Hijab, not as ABC's THE VIEW depicts it

6/25/2026

To THE VIEW/To Whom It May Concern,

Unlike what at least a few of you hosts think and have alluded to, unlike your vicious propaganda consistently offered to your audience, the majority of women in Iran are not anti-hijab, opposed to adhering to ALLAH'S/GOD'S prescribed donning of a headscarf by women when in front of men who are non-Mahram and when in the public space, and are not opposed to modesty, the wearing of a headscarf for the specific reasons that a woman is supposed to and beyond the wearing of a headscarf; modesty is much bigger than a woman wearing a headscarf. It is not limited to it. Hijab or modesty is expansive.

Now, my (Najwa Kareem's) comment: I, a Muslim, an American (both parents are) born Muslim female. I willingly and graciously wear a headscarf. I am not an object...I am not a sex object for every Tom, Dick, and Harry's pleasure. My (physical) beauty is exclusive. My body is exclusive. The shape of my body is exclusive. My hair is exclusive. My (physical) beauty is for my (hypothetical) husband, but NOT for your husband. My (physical) beauty is for my husband but NOT for your father. My (physical) beauty is for my husband but NOT for your son. My (physical) beauty is for my husband but not for your uncle. My (physical) beauty is for my husband but not for your (male) preacher/rabbi. My (physical) beauty is for my husband but not for your (male) physician. My (physical) beauty is for my husband but not for your (male) mechanic. I wasn't created a female by ALLAH/GOD to be used by an undeserving male. And I must do my darndest best to avoid every Tom, Dick, and Harry objectifying me. But no, Muslim women aren't free, right THE VIEW hosts. When this is said, you and others mean, the religion of Islam oppresses women. Muslim women are abused by men, right THE VIEW hosts. When this is said, you and others mean, the religion of Islam abuses women. You non-Muslim women including you hosts of THE VIEW aren't free. You non-Muslim women including you hosts of THE VIEW are abused. Don't tell us what we, Muslim women are. Tell yourselves WHAT YOU ARE.

A female colleague of mine from the past (married with two children) was stalked by a male colleague who found her (visible) ankles attractive, that's right, her ankles and as he reported, was his reason for stalking her. It took upper management getting involved and a number of enforcing efforts for the stalking to come to an end; one was the firing of the stalker. Come to think of it, this former colleague of mine is Iranian (born in the USA). At the time of this happening, I told another colleague of mine who was sharing a few things about this case of harassment with me, He won't be stalking me for my ankles. She laughed.

In 2023, I had an unexpected experience, one that certainly caught me off guard that I started writing a poem about that I plan to finish and get published. This is the note I wrote then: *This poem was started and nearly completed during a break I took from doing a personal business task. At the start of this year, I was in a public library one Sunday afternoon, and there was a man sitting next to me at the computer who I've depicted via this poem. It was the first ever and hopefully the last experience of this kind but one (as uncomfortable as it was for me) that certainly cemented in my mind just how attractive a woman's hair/women's hair can be to a man/to men.

To that end, on my list of To-Dos, is investigating the possibility of taking legal action against you, THE VIEW for your many crimes and specifically ones that you have committed and continue to commit against Islam, my same faith persons, and myself, a Muslim! And you regularly talk hypocritically about Trump and his crimes.

Yours truly,

Najwa Kareem
