Nyanzi Martin Luther Sets Sights on 2041 Kampala Lord Mayor Race, Unveils Long-Term Urban

KAMPALA — April 28, 2026

Media entrepreneur and Apex Media Services founder Nyanzi Martin Luther has declared his intention to contest for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat in the 2041 elections, unveiling what he describes as a long-term vision aimed at transforming the capital into a modern, digitally driven city.

Addressing supporters in Kampala, Nyanzi framed his announcement not as an immediate campaign launch, but as the beginning of a sustained political journey focused on reshaping urban governance over the next decade and beyond.

“My goal is to prepare Kampala for the future it deserves,” he said. “By 2041, this city should be fully modernised, inclusive, and powered by innovation in every sector.”

Nyanzi outlined a vision centered on smart city infrastructure, improved urban transport systems, digitized public services, and stronger youth participation in city development. He emphasized that his approach will prioritise long-term planning rather than short-term political promises.

He also highlighted unemployment among young people as a key issue, pledging to support entrepreneurship, digital skills development, and creative industries as pillars of economic transformation in the capital.

Although the 2041 elections remain far in the future, his early declaration has already sparked discussion among political observers, who say it reflects a growing trend of younger leaders positioning themselves well ahead of traditional electoral cycles.

Political analyst Prof. Timothy Kigozi noted that such early announcements are becoming part of modern political branding. “We are seeing a shift where aspirants begin building visibility and policy identity years before elections, particularly in urban leadership contests,” he said.

Supporters have welcomed Nyanzi’s announcement as forward-looking and ambitious, arguing that Kampala requires leaders who think beyond immediate electoral timelines. Critics, however, caution that long-term political ambitions face uncertainties in Uganda’s evolving political environment.

Nyanzi said he will continue engaging the public through media platforms, civic initiatives, and youth programs as he builds momentum toward his long-term political goal.

As Kampala continues to expand rapidly, his 2041 Lord Mayor bid adds an early but notable entry into the conversation about the future leadership of Uganda’s capital.
