When the World Doesn’t Expect Much From You, Prove Them Wrong

A weekly meeting with some community students

I know what it feels like to be overlooked.

To have people assume you can’t achieve much because of where you’re from. To have dreams that seem too big for the hands that hold them. To constantly fight battles, poverty, gender bias, a failing system before you even get a chance to prove yourself.

For a long time, I felt like I had to ask for permission to exist in spaces I wanted to be in. To learn. To work. To grow.

But I realized something: no one was going to give me permission to succeed. I had to take it.

Finding remote work wasn’t just a job; it was a way out. But even in this space, I’ve had to fight against the odds. Unstable electricity. Poor internet. Clients who hesitate to trust my abilities because of where I live. Yet, I keep showing up.

Every task I complete, every skill I learn, every client who believes in me, it all adds up. I’m not just working; I’m rewriting the story that was written for me.

I went on to mentoring teeangers weekly, online and its been rewarding to help young people see themselves for who they are.

I want to break more barriers, build something greater, and show other young women that we don’t have to settle for less than we deserve.

If you’ve ever been made to feel small, hear me when I say this:

You are more than their expectations. You are more than their doubts.

Keep pushing.

Keep proving them wrong.

The world will have no choice but to listen.

💡 Tell me, have you ever been underestimated? How did you rise above it?
