May 16, 2025, a program called "Narir Dake Moitri jatra"

The information available indicates that on Friday, May 16, 2025, a program called "Narir Dake Moitree Jatra" (March for Solidarity at the Call of Women) took place on Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka.

This event was organized under the slogan “Samatar Dabite Amra” (We Demand Equality) and brought together diverse participants, including progressive women, workers, students, teachers, cultural activists, and professionals. Around 50 progressive organizations expressed solidarity with this program.

The participants read out a declaration urging the interim government to ensure the safety of women and marginalized communities and to take effective action against the spread of rumors and religious incitement, particularly concerning the Women's Affairs Reform Commission report. They also demanded that political parties seeking public mandate clearly state their position on the rights of women, workers, and minorities, and that at least 33% of electoral candidates be women.

Following the declaration, a procession marched from Manik Mia Avenue to Indira Road and back, with participants chanting slogans demanding equal rights, labor rights, safety and dignity for women.
