The Life Journey of a Somali Migrant

Abdirahman is a Somali man from a small town in Somalia. War and economic hardship forced him to leave his country in search of a better life. He moved to the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya, where he stayed for many years, holding onto hope to rebuild his life someday.

After some time, Abdirahman decided to attempt a dangerous sea journey to reach Europe. He joined a group of Somali migrants who boarded a small boat off the coast of Libya. Their trip was very risky — the boat was overcrowded, and the sea was rough, but they were determined to reach a better future.

Unfortunately, while crossing the sea, the boat capsized. Many people died, but Abdirahman and some others survived and were rescued. When he arrived in Europe, Abdirahman faced many challenges such as language barriers and unemployment, but he received help from several organizations supporting refugees.

Abdirahman’s case is just one example of thousands of Somalis who still face dangerous journeys for survival, but it also shows the resilience and hope of the Somali people.
