🌿 When “Later” Never Comes — A Reflection on Life, Loss & Living Fully

Yesterday, I attended the funeral of a dear woman named Dalal.

She spent her entire life serving — her family, her work, everyone who needed her. A gentle soul, always giving, always moving, always putting herself last. She carried a heart full of kindness and hands that never rested.

Three months ago, she was diagnosed with cancer.

They never found its origin.

And before she could even absorb the news, she was gone.

Just after retiring.

Just when she thought life would finally give her time.

I still remember her last words to me:

“Inshallah, when I have time, I will visit your mother.”

But time never came.

She left without giving herself the care, the rest, the joy she always gave to others.

Even her name — Dalal (دلال) — means pampering, tenderness, indulgence…

Yet life never pampered her.

She worked until the end.

And today, my heart carries her story as a soft warning — and a prayer for us all.

We live in a world where we glorify being busy.

Where rest feels like guilt.

Where we serve everyone but ourselves.

Where “later” becomes a lifetime.

As a coach and deep listener, I meet so many hearts burdened by duty, sacrifice, and delayed dreams. We say we will reconnect when things calm down, when we finish this task, when life gives us space. But sometimes space never arrives.

Dalal did not get to enjoy the season she earned.

Her retirement was a farewell.

So today, I invite you — gently, lovingly:

📌 Don’t wait for “later.”

📌 Choose presence over productivity.

📌 Call someone you love.

📌 Visit before regret visits you.

📌 Create time for joy, softness, rest, and real connection.

Life is not meant to be postponed.

We honour Dalal — and every soul like her — by choosing to live while we are still alive, not only to survive.

May she rest in eternal peace. 🤍

And may her memory awaken in us a new promise:

To live fully.

To love deeply.

To choose connection before it’s too late.

Are we here just to work and endure?

Or are we here to feel, to connect, to truly see one another?

🕊️

May we not wait for life to remind us through loss.
