story

I thank the World Pulse Committee in this great idea of considering the Women and Girls on DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT GLOBALLY. As we all know that educating a woman is educating the whole family and the whole World at large.
The wisdom of Grassroots Women Leaders on how the Internet can support groundbreaking initiatives to generate positive change for communities grobally is by working on the following;
The Women Leaders should be simple, approachable, kind, social and loving in order to win Community Women at the Grassroots Level due to poverty most of them are depressed, frustrated in life.
Majority of Girls are Primary School drop-outs due to poverty they become single mothers at the age of 15yrs.
*Secondary School drop-outs and Form iv leavers they don't go beyond that i.e College, Universities. so they also become mothers since they are idle and as you know idle minds are the devils Workshop. They wash other peoples clothes for as less as Kshs 200 for their basic needs when they don't get the job, they engage in bad companies or they are employed in Clubs, as Waiters they end up infected with HIV and Aids.
DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT.
First and Foremost, The Women Leaders at the Grassroots level should be Computer literate,
*So through The World Pulse, I would Organize Seminars, Activities or a Beauty Contest Girls and also women on different days.So while doing these Activities, the woman Leader should have a Computer, be able to browse on the INTERNET Website and show women how business goes on online.
*That, one is able to communicate with people online all over the World. Myself am Computer literate so I would be able to show them an email that was emailed to me from US by the World Pulse friend who asked me to print that email and and go attend an Internet Global Forum ( IGF) which was held at UNEP, GILGIL Kenya. I did as I was instructed and i was able to attend that Forum (5days). So, if I was not Computer literate, I could not have attended that Forum whereby I met so many delegates from all over the World and some game me their Contacts.
*The Women Leaders should be in charge and The World Pulse Directors should introduce her to UN Women in order to cooperate properly in DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT at the Grassroots level.
* Purchase Computers
*T.O.T to train
*A room should be rented as a Library whereby the Computers should be kept for
'Computer Basic Skills Training" for Women and Girls.
*In a Government where there is DEVOLUTION at County Levels like in our Country Kenya. The National Government and County Government should chip in to be involved in DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT for Women and Girls in that Community. They should be introduced to the Women Leaders who have been the Vocal point in the WORLD PULSE and in that Community so that they don't hijack the Program and refuse to recognize the Woman Leader of that Community who has been the Vocal made it possible and allocate it to their friends.
*Women who might not be able to learn Computer due to age or eyes (problem). They should be encouraged to weave Baskets, make beads, Mats. Wood crafts be shown how to make a Photo of the items, scan and sell them online (INTERNET. We should open an email for them in order to deal with their business individually. They can also do it in a GROUP. Myself, I coordinate a People with Special Needs Group on Saturdays some of them them weave baskets. So, through Digital Empowerment they can be able to sell and have an INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITTY.
This time round, I hope my needy Community will benefit with DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT.
