A 16 year-old girl is locked up at home by her father and not allowed to study.
Please rescue the child bride! ⚠️⚠️
#SaveSarahSalah.
Sarah is about to be involved in a child marriage with a Muslim and is forced to convert to Islam. There are threats from an extreme Muslim family and restrictions on her personal freedom.
The young girl who needs help lives in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. Her name is Sarah Salah.
If you are near by, please help her escape from this!
Sarah is repeating the tragedy of a child bride that occurred half a century ago. Her Muslim parents have forcibly betrothed her to a strange man. This girl, who should have been playing with her friends on campus and preparing hard for exams, will now only caged in the deadly marriage.
Sarah Salah is a feminist, caring and kind. She is really excellent at studying, and her dreams are to pursue learning and freedom. In her old-fashioned, conservative, and even ignorant family, she has avant-garde ideas. The rise of female self-awareness has brought her pain that doesn't belong to her age - marriage. Her father said that she doesn't wear a headscarf, kisses her boyfriend, dresses normally, and wants to study and travel, so she is a bad girl and should get married so that a husband can control her. In order to resist, she tore up her headscarf, dressed normally when going out, and even attempted suicide... But her family's response was, "If you have a mental illness, go read the Quran." Her family tried to belittle her value by denying her, saying that she was a loser and daydreaming, and forced and tricked her into getting married, mentally abusing her. As a result, Sarah developed mental health problems, but her family ignored her condition and the doctor's advice. They ignorantly believed that getting married could cure all of their daughter's problems.
Unfortunately...There is no one in her family who can help her. Her sisters have all been forced to undergo female circumcision and wear burqas. And police even stand with her parents, didn't help her.
She is afraid of all this and is therefore seeking help on social media and in society.
Egyptian law stipulates that 18 is the minimum age for marriage, but religious marriage registration offices are still issuing "exceptional permits."
--Data from the Foundation for the Aid of Women (FAW) shows that in 2023, 11% of girls in Egypt were still getting married before the age of 18.
If you see this post, you can help Sarah in the following ways. Every act of kindness and every share from you can change the final outcome.
