A Different Kind of Christmas Wishlist

Seeking
Connections

This year, I’ve reflected deeply on life and how much my priorities have shifted. I’ve outgrown the desire for extravagant Christmas gifts or expensive items often sitting unused. My focus has shifted to things that offer practicality, security, and peace of mind—things that align with where I am in life right now.
Of course, the ultimate desires of my heart—long life, good health, joy, and abundant peace—are gifts that only the Lord can give. These are beyond human control, but I also know that God often uses people to be a blessing to others. If someone were to ask me this year what I truly want, my answer would be different from what it’s been in the past.
Here’s what my Christmas wishlist looks like this year:
- six Months or a Year’s Rent
- Before we step into homeownership—which I believe is coming soon by God’s grace—having rent paid in advance would be an incredible relief and a huge help in easing financial pressure.
- Utility Bills Covered
- Imagine the peace of mind that comes with having water and electricity bills paid in advance. It’s one less worry and allows more focus on building a better future.
- Capital for My Startup
- I have dreams and ideas that are just waiting to come to life. Having the funds to finally launch my startup would be an extraordinary gift that keeps giving.
- Shopping Vouchers
- Essentials like groceries and household items can add up. Shopping vouchers would be a thoughtful and practical blessing.
- Health Insurance
- Health is wealth, and having comprehensive health insurance is something I’ve grown to value deeply. Knowing I’m covered for emergencies or routine check-ups would bring such peace.
- Stocks and Bonds
- This year, I’ve started thinking more about the future and generational wealth. Investments in stocks or bonds would be a meaningful gift that helps me secure a better tomorrow.
- Property
- Owning property has always been a dream. It’s not just about having a place to call home; it’s about stability, independence, and creating something that lasts for generations.
- Life Membership at a Spa and Gym
- As much as I love to stay active, my body sometimes feels much older than it is (my bones literally sound like they’re 90!). A spa and gym membership would help me care for my physical health while also providing some much-needed relaxation.
This list may seem unconventional or even ambitious, but it reflects my current season of life. I no longer crave hangouts or nights out; instead, I find joy in staying indoors, embracing peace, and listening to worship music. There’s a different kind of fulfillment that comes from these quieter moments.
I’ve also noticed how much I crave silence—not just in my surroundings but also within myself and in the world. This longing for a quiet and peaceful state of life is something I’m learning to treasure.
I’m grateful for these changes because they show growth and maturity. And while I don’t expect anyone to fulfill this list, I wouldn’t mind if someone felt led to check off a few things. 😊
After all, Christmas is about giving, and sometimes the most meaningful gifts aren’t wrapped in shiny paper but in thoughtfulness and love.
