A Flowering Mind to change emotion to power.
To be a woman can be a hard thing, especially if you have to compete in a world made for men. We hide our inner trauma and turmoil and must be professional and strong, yet our emotions are what make us strong. I want women to understand the beauty of their mind is a flower that opens when we express ourselves not suppress ourselves.
Women have opinions and insight that can be overlooked in the corporate or government field. We may be too emotional to be professional so to speak. I wish to educate 10 women on the power of those emotions, how they may change their work environment, and how having passion can be professional.
The ability to see a change and be passionate about making that change is an advantage that men with more reserved natures may interpret as emotional. We will create an impact by showing our passion professionally to highlight the strength of positive change.
A Flowering Mind Initiative will start by advocating for 10 women to be trained through the South African Mental Health Institute to become Mental Health Ambassadors. This course stretches over 2 days and at a cost of R3 000.00 per student. It contains two Phases of training and Phase one is modules on Mental Health Challenges we all face. Phase 2 deals with Tools, Strategies & Techniques.
Phase one covers modules such as Mental Health First Response to teach women how to deal with a coworker in a mental health crisis. Identifying and assisting persons who are fighting Alcohol Dependency, Suicide & Self-harm Prevention, coping with Stress & Burnout, Sexuality, PTSD, Bullying and Victimization, Eating Disorders, and multiple other mental health challenges.
Understanding and identifying is not enough and phase 2 focuses strongly on giving women the tools they need to help, strategies, and techniques. Understanding how to refer a person to wellness programs, SADAG, and other professional organizations, roleplayers, and stakeholders that can offer assistance and guidance.
A Flowering Mind aims to impact 10 women, and from them, the outcome will flow to impact outwards to other persons in the organization.
