A Happy New Decade- A Happy New Menstruation

Ten more years ahead of us, set before us to build again, triumph again and celebrate again. We look at the last 10, 100, 1000 years and yes we are making big strides, we have never stopped to dream, I mean to fight for change. We are speaking and yes our voices have become louder, loud enough to change societal views and dominate the political scene. 2020 Marks the beginning of yet another decade to prove our selves better. Finland has already set the pace for women to take over the political scene, the business world has seen women steering even bigger ships because each ten brings us hope and strength.

We have witnessed an unexpected topic gaining momentum on the political scene towards the end of the previous decade, menstruation. Women have begun to speak not because they want to rant, we never rant, but we speak for change and I am glad menstruation is building the much-needed momentum to see change happening in this decade, change to see women speak about their menstrual needs. This is the decade to re-write the taboos that have smeared our progress and the losses endured by our girls when their academic life is concerned.

This decade we will talk less and act more by giving our girls free menstrual material, educate them about menstruation. Period Pride Keeps our Girls in School is driving change towards a society that values menstruation as they enable girls to ask and be heard. There is no easy fix to period poverty but we can educate, give menstrual aid and provide decent sanitation for our girls for more dignified menstruation.
