A Mother’s Love: The Power of Encouragement

Encouragement is more than just words; it’s a force that lifts you when the world pushes you down. For me, encouragement has always come from one person—my mother. She has been my greatest inspiration, my unwavering supporter, and the reason I still believe in myself today.

The Dream We Shared

Since childhood, I dreamed of becoming a doctor. It wasn’t just my ambition—it was my mother’s dream too. She believed in my ability to heal, to make a difference, and to build a future filled with purpose. I worked hard, spending endless nights preparing for the medical entrance exam.

But when the results came, my dream shattered. I didn’t pass.

The weight of failure was unbearable. I felt lost, like I had disappointed not only myself but my mother too. Worse, no one was there to support me—except her. While others saw my failure, she saw my potential.

A Mother’s Silent Sacrifice

My mother is not just someone who prays for my success—she is someone who has sacrificed endlessly for our family. She has worked tirelessly, always putting our needs above her own. She never asked for recognition, never sought praise, and never complained.

Even when her efforts went unnoticed, she kept going. Even when no one thanked her, she never stopped giving. She worked hard in silence, carrying burdens that no one acknowledged. And yet, she still found the strength to encourage me, to believe in me, and to remind me that I was capable of achieving great things.

Her sacrifices have taught me what true strength looks like.

A Moment of Hope

Instead of letting me drown in despair, she reminded me that my worth wasn’t defined by one setback.

"Life doesn’t end with one lost dream," she told me. "Surely Allah has planned something greater for you. You just have to find it."

Her words gave me hope when I had none left. She encouraged me to explore new possibilities, and that’s when I decided to pursue business. I'm unsure of where this path would lead, but willing to try. Alongside my studies, I discovered a passion for graphic design, something I never expected to love.

The Impact of Encouragement

Encouragement is powerful—it can change the course of a person’s life. Because of my mother’s belief in me, I found the strength to start over. Today, I am not just studying business; I am also learning graphic design, building my skills, and working toward a future where I can succeed.

But more importantly, I have gained faith in myself. I now believe that no matter how many times I fall, I will rise again.

A World Built on Encouragement

Imagine a world where every woman and girl receives the support she needs. Where failures are seen as stepping stones, not dead ends. Where dreams are nurtured, not dismissed.

To create this world, we must:

Normalize words of encouragement—tell the women around you that they are capable, strong, and worthy.

Provide mentorship and guidance to those who are struggling.

Challenge societal expectations that discourage women from exploring new paths.

A Letter to My Mother

Dear Ma,

You are my light in the darkest times. When I lost hope, you gave me yours. When I doubted myself, you reminded me of my strength. You never let me believe that failure defined me—you showed me that it was just a part of the journey.

You have worked so hard for our family, sacrificing your own comfort just to give us a better life. Even when you were tired, you never stopped caring. Even when no one praised you, you never stopped giving.

I see you. I see your sacrifices, your hard work and your silent struggles. And one day, I promise, I will make you proud inshaAllah. Because you never stopped believing in me, I will never stop trying.Thank you for your endless prayers, your unwavering love and your faith in me.

With all my love,

Seema

Encouragement Creates Change

Encouragement isn’t just about helping someone succeed—it’s about reminding them they are not alone. My mother’s belief in me changed my life. And one day, I hope to be that source of encouragement for someone else, passing on the same strength that was given to me.
