A new feminist fund in the Great Lakes region called "MWANAMKE FUND"

Mwanamke Fund (http://www.mwanamkefund.org/) is a feminist inclusive fund (created by and for women and led by women) that responds innovatively to the needs of women in vulnerable situations through the establishment of an inclusive resource mobilization mechanism for strengthening the financial and technical capacities of small women's organizations and local women's movements to address the issues of women's rights violations, sexual and gender-based violence, poverty, food and economic insecurity, climate change, environmental and biodiversity destruction, poor access to health care and sexual and reproductive rights, illiteracy, exclusion and underrepresentation of women in decision-making bodies, as well as to promote peace in the Great Lakes region, devastated by a multitude of political, community and armed conflicts over the past 30 years, of which women remain the primary victims.

Our vision is to: Serve in the short, medium, and long term as a grassroots feminist fund that embodies fairness, reliability, and accessibility, and addresses the technical and financial challenges and needs of small women's and girls' organizations in vulnerable situations in the African Great Lakes countries.

Our mission is to mobilize the necessary resources and provide local financial and technical support through small grants and capacity building for small (women-led) organizations that promote the leadership, empowerment, and rights of indigenous women, women survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, and vulnerable and marginalized women and girls in the African Great Lakes countries.
