Theater background
A recent picture of the marshes in the dry season
the first scene :
In a dry marsh land, a seagull appears circling the fish, spreading its wings, to pounce on it
Denefesh (addressing Heraclius):
please help me.
Hercules laughs: I am waiting for the moment of your death, so that you will be my next meal!
Danfesh: Instead of eating me, look for the reason for the water outage, and everyone will perish.
Hercules: This is none of my business. I can fly away and survive.
Danfash: Please help me because I am dying.
He makes fun of her
: Why don't you shut up?
Buffalo Bulldozer appears and asks Hercules why are you laughing?
Hercules: I laugh because the fish is asking for my help.
Bulldozer (in a sad tone):
We will all perish and we will be right, where is the water? (Screaming):
Where is the water?
Rita the duck enters silently, approaching Danefesh with a sad look on her face
Hercules shouts at her: Go away, it's my food.
Rita gets angry and stands between Hercules and Denefesh
Hercules (thinking that Rita's intention is to eat the fish instead of him):
Go away, you sneaky duck.
Rita: Why don't you go away? You have two wings to fly where there is plenty and water.
Bulldozer shouts at them
Enough with you, we have to find a solution, not disagree
(a moment of silence)
A bulldozer approaches Danfish, who turns from thirst over the remaining water
How can I save you, my friend?
Danfash (with intermittent breaths): I want, I want, I want, I want, what water
The flamingo bird (Volna) appears and wonders:
Am I in Iraq?
Did you get lost in the Bekaa?
Where is the water? Where is the singing greenery?
Hercules laughs: There is no water, the Euphrates River has dried up.
Volna dances and repeats:
(It freezes and becomes ice
It boils and becomes steam
But I love him
A fountain or stream
flows into rivers)
She shouts: Where are the marshes?
They knock their heads / cut off
Scene two
Flona, Hercules, Bulldozer, and Rita appear in a circle around Danefesh as he takes his last breath.
Flona: Am I a bad omen?
Bulldozer: I don't think so, it might be us because we were here before you.
Rita: Danefesh said something about searching for water
Hercules speaks while raising his wings high:
He asked me to find the reason for the disappearance of the water
Bulldozer: Why are you? You are nothing but a weak seagull who only thinks about food.
Hercules: I am no different from you, you huge one.
(Hercules and Bulldogs quarrel)
Rita shouts at them:
Enough, we have to think, not fight.
Everyone shuts up
Flona: We will all perish after Denesh. We have to migrate to the sources of the river
Bulldozer (with a sigh): I don't have wings. Go without me because I will be the reason for your delay.
Hercules: (standing over Denefesh's head, screaming with joy):
The fish is dead, let me eat it
I don't know how to think when I'm hungry.
Rita hits him, and Flona pushes him
And falls to the ground....
A bulldozer tries to pull out Danafesh's body to bury him
Hercules protests:
Am I the reason? Am I the one who cut off the water?
(Heracles flies) escaping
Rita approaches Danefesh's body and cries
O smell of the marshes scented with amber, is this farewell.
Bulldozer: I will stay until the end. Water must come
Rita, Flona:
We are with you
