A System for Change!

One interesting trait of a system of any kind is that it draws power from individuals within and inflicts a magnified influence surpassing any single or unified power of those individuals. Anyone trying to fight the system is doomed to fail.

The world we’re living in is a system created, dominated and sometimes ruled by men. It has a genetic mechanism to overlook, de-prioritize and despise women’s needs and rights. Too often, women being victimized are in no position to negotiate a fairer “deal” with such system. For one thing, they’re systematically silenced by the overwhelming power of inequality permeating the entire system, being either afraid to utter a different voice or convinced with the impossibility of making a change. More importantly, women in the system are usually deprived, systematically, of the knowledge to understand their frustrating situation and the effective tools to enhance their wellbeing.

I know this because I AM one of the thousands of millions of women currently “institutionalized” by the system. Voice being suffocated, hands being tied, hope being crushed, I see the irrationality as many see, and I feel the pain as many feel. Some brave women have tried to address this inequality from within the system, with significant accomplishment yet still a long way to go. It’s difficult enough for women united, let alone any female individual.

But joining the World Pulse community and harnessing Web 2.0 help create a more promising picture. Why? Because with Web 2.0, we the women fighters can unite and establish a system of our own, a system not only draws power from the braves but also empowers the warriors-to-be! Indeed, Web 2.0 offers a platform to utter our voices and ideas, a toolkit to start an education on women’s empowerment and a stronghold to advance the world-blowing women’s movement! In a word, Web 2.0 let us create a parallel system that stands equal with THE SYSTEM already in place.

Before joining the World Pulse community, I was well aware that the world I’m living in was not so civil on females, individual or collective. Yet I felt alone and bewildered, because most people (including women) around me seemed to “be cool with” it, at least it appeared so. And I went through an emotional journey from being enraged and maddened for not being able to fight against the current system as a bare-handed girl to being suspicious and self-criticizing for thinking and acting so differently like a sociopath. I almost surrendered and blamed it all on me!

Thanks to the World Pulse community, a magical Web 2.0 application, I feel no longer alone, but empowered. I now know that I’m not an insatiable person who always crave for the undeserving, that I’m not a singular in this fight for RIGHT, and that there’re resonated voices and readily available tools for me to finally act on what I and WE speak for. I’m grateful for being here and I will be grateful for what becomes of me!
