A taste of Freedom

story
Words are not enough to describe the feeling i had that first day i stepped on that piece of land. It was not so big, just about an eighth of an acre. It took my husband and I 3 years to finish paying for it, and o, how i longed to see it. I had only known its location and size from the papers we signed with the Law firm agreeing to buy the land and i trusted my husband fully that indeed the land existed, with every payment we made, knowing well that i had no proof because i hadn't seen it, but i believed!
Finally the day came and it was quite a rough journey to the place, thank God for the four-wheel vehicle we had, it would have otherwise been impossible to get there. What a joy and peace that filled my heart the moment I stepped on to it, I couldn’t help but praise God aloud, and thank Him for His goodness to us. I felt a sense of freedom, of belonging; finally I had a share, a place to call my own in my country! It was liberating! The land was much bigger than I had anticipated; I could now see my dream coming to pass! A dream of owning a home one day, the freedom from paying rent and constantly knowing that you’re indebted to somebody at the end of every month! I am still dreaming, looking forward to a home on my land!
