A time to be Thankful

On a bright and sunny March morning, the government of Trinidad and Tobago, where I'm from, called for a shutdown of the country. My eyes quickly fell on my open laptop, it was only yesterday o submitted my business plan to a funding agency, my heart sank, here I was an entrepreneur, with a new start up, just out university in my mature years, looking to transform my dormant business and kiss the struggle of the previous years goodbye.I have big dreams, a a sustainable fashion designer I was set to use my brand to make a difference, not just Trendy designs, but empowering women through sustainable projects. This could nt have happened at a worst time I taught. I locked my door and did the only thing that has kept me solid over the years, get on my knees and prayed, the days seems long as I applied for the relief grants, and  I wait, my landlady kept reminding me she was waiting too. My cupboards ran dry, but I kept believing and searching myself for that thing that would save me, entrepreneurship is about solving a problem, so people needed face mask, and mask I made, and  what God  did after that  reminded me that he will will keep his promises. I went from working alone to employing over ten persons, this wasn't only about me, and being able to assist one young man half way across the world to get home after being stuck due to Corvid. Technology has its darkside, but we are admonished to use what was meant for evil for good. I was able to accomplish so much from my living room and even now, I'm networking, attending conferences, being educated, connecting, getting my brand seen by people all over the globe, most of which I would have missed outside of the pandemic. The pandemic has diverted plans, but it's also a blessing on disguise, recently I was most pleased to encourage my clients to support my effort to reach out to the women of St Vincent and the Grenadines with care packages all nicely presented in upcycled bags I made as part of the relief effort of the NGO I support. St. Vincent has been hit by the volcanic eruption of la souferie and so many have lost homes or displaced. In spite of what we may face we still need to reach out if we can, we may not be able to do so alone, form a group,, share the idea, with someone who may be able to sponsor items or support in some way. In this time we especially as women have to support each other, trust God and dig deep, find ways to continue to be Resilient
