Agroecology in Schools :Building Climate Resilience in Under-served Communities



On 23rd July 2024 , as part of Building Climate Resilient Communities in Kenya and with support from Landscapes of Hope , Haki Nawiri in collaboration with Kariobangi Social Justice Centre and community members co-organised an agroecology practical skills session for students at Nyapiedho Mixed Secondary School located in Gem-Sub County, Siaya County in Kenya.

The forum involved practical skills training on agroecology , discussions on food sovereignty and food security , alternatives to the us of synthetic fertilisers and why schools should have sustainable and health diets.The session also involved setting up of a school garden and making carbon beds as part of nurturing youth-led climate resilience.
