Arrey Echi for the Spirit Award

story
The best way to honor those we lost is to continue living carry their legacy.
Early this year, we lost Leah Ouma Okeyo. I used to read her poems and know and learn about her, as though she is sitting right next to me. ..Her work continues amongst those who were with her and for us, who wish to be like her.
Early this week , we lost Feka Parchibelle. I couldnt attend as I was apart of a situation trying to get a seven month old child from an abusive home to a safe place. This incident cant be photographed or shown anywhere, but when i heard the news , I was at peace , even though I missed attending the meeting , I was in a way contributing towards the WP vision ...
The World Pulse Spirit is embedded in every single one who attends a call, who is contributing towards their society ,who is available to guide another sister for resources any time of the day or night.. It was extremely tough and I actually felt biased choosing one amongst all the women who have been blazing their path through a constrictive society..
I often write about my daughter and the reason why I push towards inclusion .The only legacy I can give her is a role model that embodies the WP spirit and also guides her towards a success that is tangible, observable and attainable. As a mother I am not disparaging her mother's role in any way towards her success, but at the same time her achievements are her own. This year she has been sick often, had to struggle through bureaucracy, negative attitudes of people, but she barged on...
And as I write I am so happy to nominate her, because her struggle cant be assimilated by us, but rather the whole disabled community , here in WP or all the places she is associated with...And my daughter too votes for her.
I thus nominate Arrey Echi for her selfless spirit of service before self...She is the spirit that we at WP so feed on...If in a sea of known faces here, whom I so love and learn from daily, I had to chose one, I will nominate her , again and again.
