Avoiding Health complications of TSS While using Tampons

Toxic Shock Syndrome refers to bacteria or similar infections that could affect women using some menstrual products.

I am going to discuss about using Tampons for those who prefer them to other products like sanitary cups, panties and pads. I personally never got to use tampons due to the pains during insertion. I tried it several times but it didn't work and I am glad I didn't force it because, then I never even knew it has very devastating health complications.

Lauren Wausser a famous model is among those who suffered the complications of using Tampons but she was lucky to survive till today.

Though Lauren who have not for once allowed this dangerous experience deter her got her two legs chopped off due to a bad infection of staphylococcus caused by not removing her Tampons as when due.

She almost died from that health issue so for her to be alive, her two legs has to be cut off.

I am using her experience to educate our girls and women out there who prefer Tampons but careless most times in removing them when soaked.

In Africa, where such products are very expensive, girls who don't have enough resource might want to leave their Tampons inside their body for long as it doesn't stain their clothes.

This is wrong and very unsanitary, dangerous because, it could trigger a very deadly health implications that could cost you your life.

As we mark 2025 Menstrual Health day, pass this message around to your sisters, friends who use Tampons but not aware the toxic nature of not removing them as when due.

Also, in Africa some girls might think it's high status or classy to use Tampons instead of Sanitary towels. This is a very unrealistic mindset. If it hurts pretty bad inserting Tampons, never force it in or else you might develope health complications. 💕
