Global Shapers Community, World Economic Forum
I am incredibly honored and excited to have recently joined the Global Shapers Community, a dynamic initiative of the World Economic Forum. Being part of this global network of young leaders committed to creating positive change is a privilege, and my journey has already been filled with meaningful connections and insights.
My first interaction with the Ibadan Global Shapers Hub was a truly inspiring experience. I connected with their leadership and a team of passionate young individuals who share a powerful vision for social impact, much like my fellow Shapers in Chennai. We had a fascinating conversation about their experiences at the recent Global Shapers Annual Summit in Geneva, where they represented their hub on a global stage. We also delved into some of the impactful projects they are spearheading in their community. Their work, which is heavily focused on sustainability and empowerment, spans crucial areas like education, healthcare, and youth development, showcasing a deep commitment to addressing local challenges.
The conversation also included a thoughtful discussion on the future challenges that Nigeria might face. It was highlighted how crucial the role of youth-led initiatives is in the country, with their innovative solutions and inspiring contributions already making a significant difference.
Following this, I was able to share insights into the Chennai Hub's own projects. We have been working on a range of initiatives, including sustainability programs, women's empowerment campaigns, volunteer guidance, and promoting financial literacy. It was remarkable to see the striking alignment in both the intent and approach of our projects. This shared vision between the Chennai and Ibadan hubs has opened the door for exciting future collaborations, and I'm eager to explore how we can work together to amplify our impact.
The session concluded on a truly powerful and motivating note. The Ibadan curator's words about youth participation in social causes resonated deeply with me: "As young people, we should not let our bounded thoughts limit our steps. We should go out, reach people as a team, where all the young minds join their hands for a great cause ahead." This is a message I carry with me. It’s a powerful call to action to move beyond self-imposed limitations and collaborate for a greater good.
This experience has reinforced my belief in the collective power of young people. I am more energized than ever to contribute to social development and encourage others to do the same. By lifting each other up and working together, we can build a brighter, more sustainable future for all. It's an honor to be part of such a dynamic and forward-thinking group, and I'm looking forward to more impactful discussions and collaborations in the future.
