Bold Idea of the Century

What brave, bold ideas, Auma! I am eager to hear from everyone else out there, reading this. That's right..YOU! But first, I have to share the bold idea I have been bursting with lately. It's big.

Picture this: A huge Global Women's Action Network, called "GLOWACT".

This network connects the women of the world into the largest political and economic force in history.

The network kicks off with a minimum of 50 international women's organizations at the lead, who get the word out to their members, and invite other organizations and networks of women to sign on, and get the word out to their members.

The idea is simple. Women from across the world sign up on a central GLOWACT website with just their email -- and they can also sign on through their mobile phones by texting their email. The site is in multiple languages, as many as possible. After the network builds to several million members, each member receives an email or text with a chance to vote on the actions they think the network should take - or suggest their own.

The actions could be anything - but they would be creative and range from:
-Boycotting work for a day to bring a handful of earth to the steps city hall, demanding tougher environmental protections.
-Sending a pie to each countries president to demand greater piece of budget pie for children's healthcare and education,
-Not answering your phone for a day and changing your voicemail, to say, "I'm mourning the rape of women around the world today, and only taking calls from those who are willing to take action to end it" - with a massive call campaign to governments to take greater action.
-Street dance parties raising hundreds of millions for new, powerful, UN Department for Women.

Through democratic process - the action that gets the greatest vote is selected! Then, the winning action is emailed out to millions of members.

Actions happen 4 times a year. The network grows, also word spreads through a gorgeous, 2 minute video. The actions get more powerful and creative. The goal is to reach the global TIPPING POINT of women -- commonly thought to be 20% of any population. That makes the goal nearly 700 million women.
