Born Talented to Battle Threats

Zahraa’s Light: A Mother’s Journey of Love and Resilience

Every morning begins with a purpose. For me, that purpose is my daughter Zahraa, my beautiful 5-year-old who fills our home with light and laughter, despite the challenges she faces. Zahraa was born premature, and from the very beginning, her journey has been one of resilience and strength.

Her days are filled with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy—three words that have become central to our lives. Each session is a step toward helping Zahraa overcome spasticity in her legs and improve her ability to express herself. But behind those hours in therapy rooms lies a journey that is as exhausting as it is rewarding.

The Struggles We Face

There are days when the weight of it all feels overwhelming. The back-to-back appointments, the endless paperwork, the financial strain—each day presents its own challenges. Physically, I am drained; emotionally, I carry a deep responsibility.

There are moments when I wonder if I’m doing enough, moments when the exhaustion catches up with me. But then I look at Zahraa—her determination to push through a tough exercise or her joy when she masters a new sound—and I know that every sacrifice is worth it.

The Little Victories

It’s not always easy, but there are moments of triumph that make it all worthwhile. The first time Zahraa took a step without as much support brought tears to my eyes. Hearing her try new words in speech therapy filled me with hope. Each milestone, no matter how small, is a reminder of her strength and perseverance.

Her therapists often say she’s a fighter—and she is. But I like to think she gets that from me. Together, we are a team, pushing past every obstacle, finding joy in the journey, and holding on to the belief that brighter days lie ahead.

Finding Strength in Love

Zahraa has taught me more than I could have ever imagined. She’s taught me patience, resilience, and the power of unconditional love. While this journey is undeniably tiring, it has also been transformative.

I’ve learned to celebrate the little moments, to find strength in the toughest times, and to advocate fiercely for my daughter. My goal is to create a home where Zahraa feels supported, loved, and capable of achieving her dreams, no matter the challenges she faces.

A Message of Hope

To other mothers walking similar paths: I see you. I understand the exhaustion, the worry, and the hope that carry you forward. Remember, you are not alone, and every small step you take makes a difference.

Zahraa and I are proof that, with love and determination, even the hardest journeys can lead to moments of joy and triumph.

Let’s keep supporting one another and celebrating our children’s victories, one step at a time.
