Breaking News: EVO DEROGATED THE GAS SMASH

Victory of the People! The Gas Smash is OFF! Evo derogated the decree, to make things be as they were before the smashing increase in gas prices.

As of today, December 31st, at 22:15, in an urgent press conference in La Paz Bolivia, the Bolivian president derogated the Decree No.748, which put the gas prices up in 83% to 95%.

This is a result of the powerful demonstrations in the streets from the corageous Bolivian people. Workers of all kinds, mothers, young people, poor, middle class, everyone was in the streets.

The country has been paralyzed since Monday, December 26th, the date of issue of the decree. There were hundreds of protests being scheduled for next week.

People were using all media outlets to tell their president that the decree was unacceptable and must be derogated.
Internet web 2.0 has played a remarkable role by channeling people´s opinions directly to the president.

Bloggers from all over Bolivia have been busy doing citizen activism for the derogation of the decree.

This is indeed a victory of the people, who will now go home and celebrate the new year 2011 as God commands.

There is a lot of work left to do though, as people are now asking for the Ministers to resign, to tighten the borders not to let gasoline flee from the country, and many other steps towards the recovery of a very weak economy.
