Wacuka Kabute, affectionately known as Tigresa wa Kirinyaga or Mama Cubs, embodies both nurturing instincts and fierce resilience. Born and raised in Kenya, she carries a legacy of strength from the women who raised her. Her paternal grandmother, widowed early, raised four children in a rural village with dignity and grit. Her maternal grandmother fled an abusive marriage with two young daughters and began anew. These women, one being her mother, taught Wacuka to stand tall in storms, to raise her voice with compassion, and to create a life that holds both healing and power.

Wacuka’s journey was deeply shaped by her parents, whose unwavering love and belief in her have been the bedrock of her journey. They have been her number-one supporters and cheerleaders, constantly encouraging, guiding, and praying for her through every chapter of life. Their love continues to carry her.

Migrating to the UK just over two years ago, Wacuka settled in Dorset, where she currently lives and works. Her journey has not been linear; it has been filled with shifts, tears, aches and pains, conversations, sacrifice, and growth. She has worked in social care, supported colleagues and newcomers, mentored others quietly, and juggled life as a mother of two teenage boys who are her greatest inspiration and motivation.

Wacuka’s vision is to use her voice, writing, and advocacy to build stronger support systems for migrants, especially women and workers starting afresh. She recently completed an eBook titled “An Analytical Study on Building a Support Network for New Migrant Workers in the UK,” which blends research and lived experience to offer real, practical guidance. She is now working on turning it into something bigger — courses, communities, maybe even change.

Writing with honesty, humour, and heart, Wacuka’s passion lies in bridging people, policy, and purpose. She does not shy away from uncomfortable conversations and believes that storytelling — whether through a diary entry, a blog post, or a one-on-one call — is a tool of transformation.
