Empower Dada Initiative.
Young mothers in kenya often face a unique set of challenges, balancing motherhood, societal expectations, and personal dreams. Girl Up Umoja, we saw a gap,the lack of opportunities for these young women to rise above their circumstances. That’s how the Empower Dada Initiative was born,we partnered with adaf kenya to not only equip young mothers with tangible skills but also offer them a lifeline of hope and independence.
The gap we are bridging is not just about skills but about restoring dignity and possibility. Many young mothers are often sidelined, deemed "too far gone" to achieve success. Through Empower Dada, we are proving this notion wrong. These women are determined, resilient, and with potential. They just need someone to believe in them and the right tools to succeed.
The tailoring and entrepreneurship training we provide has been life-changing for these young mothers. For many, this is the first time they’ve had access to professional skills, financial literacy, and sexual and reproductive health education. These are not just classes; they are pathways to sustainable livelihoods and decision-making power. We are closing the gap of economic dependence and societal marginalization.
Take Stacy Awuor, for example—a young mother who came to us unsure of what her future would hold. Through the program, she has developed skills in tailoring and dreams of combining it with her passion for beauty therapy. She is now building a life where her dreams are no longer out of reach but right in front of her.
Eunice Lule, who supports not only her child but her younger brother as well. She entered our program reserved and unsure of herself, but today, she walks confidently as a skilled tailor and a provider, inspiring other young mothers in her community.
We are proud and happy but not just teaching skills. Our initiative is about giving young mothers the opportunity to rewrite their stories and turn challenges into stepping stones for success.
Empowering women is at the core of Girl Up Umoja’s vision. Through the Empower Dada Initiative, we are closing the gap that society has placed between these women.
