Built to Endure: Thriving Beyond Doubt and Setbacks

Mentoring young learners with Project digital impact foundation

When you start something—whether it’s an idea, a project, or a movement—you begin with your whole heart and passion. You imagine that things will work out simply because your intentions are pure and your goal is to build people and uplift your community. But the truth is, it doesn’t always go as planned.

I have learned that good must be fought for. It doesn’t come easy. Success isn’t something you wake up and stumble upon. The vision you carry will be tested. The journey will demand resilience, persistence, and unwavering faith. You will have to seek out people, knock on doors, and sometimes face rejection. But if your vision truly matters to you, you will fight for it.

One lesson I have come to embrace is this: do not be distracted by the flowers. The moment you start seeing growth, small wins, or recognition, don’t lose focus. Flowers can wither, and seasons of drought will come. Your dream, like a deep-rooted tree, must be built to survive the dry seasons. Your commitment, not external validation, will sustain it.

The dry seasons are tough. Doubt will creep in. You will question yourself—your ability, your impact, and even your purpose. You may feel like you started something too big and that failure is inevitable. But in those moments, remind yourself why you began. Revisit your vision. Dream even bigger. Push through because there are lives depending on you not giving up.

When I started my journey, my definition of success was simple: impacting one person. But as I grew, I looked at the numbers, at the bigger picture, and sometimes I became overwhelmed. I compared myself to others, questioning whether I was doing enough. But I have come to understand that success is not about how many people recognize your work—it is about staying true to your purpose.

You may not win accolades. No one may clap for you. But deep down, you know the lives you’ve touched. You know the difference you’ve made. So focus on that. Keep moving forward. Don’t give up on yourself or your vision.

And never walk this journey alone. Look for collaborations, no matter how small. Find people who share your vision and grow together. Appreciate those who support you, for they are the backbone of your journey.

I write this not just for you, but for myself as well. I have been in that place of doubt, wondering if I am leading my team the right way, questioning whether I am making a real impact. But every day, I wake up and take another step forward. And that is what matters.

So, if you are on this journey, if you are building something, if you are fighting for a dream—keep going. Keep growing. Keep believing. Your vision is worth it
