changing the world

story
I told myself the world needs a change, then I sat and pondered how this would happen, seeing that we are over 7 billion and I don't know a fraction of the population. Many were not in my country or continent and many I would never meet. The question became, 'how will I (Rit) change a people so vast, a race so complex?'. The like a light bulb went up in my head, it became so simple, achievable and within reach. I decided to do 'One thing' and do it well- 'BE THE CHANGE'.
I wanted a change in the way women and girls were perceived in my society, (the weaker vessels having little to contribute, to be seen and not heard, not to be educated). I found out the detrimental effects of climate change are felt most by women and children (especially girls). Drought, desertification, famine extreme weather conditions have their told on women who have to travel long distances in search of water, fuel or even fertile soil. I can emphasize the need for gender sensitive responses to the effects of climate change to make adaptation easier.
When I succeed in being an advocate, mentor and path finder, I desire that young girls will see that success and aspire to achieve greatness. The women in the world today were girls (some got a strong footing, others did not). I plan to be the best at my field that any young girl looking at me will know that success is possible even as a woman and by that I would have changed the world.
I may not be able to hasten decisions at the COP meetings or have a voice at the UN general assembly I realized I can imbibe climate friendly choices,
