Why Collaboration, Coordination, and Empathy Matter in Child Rights
When we speak of child rights, we are not speaking of charity, we are speaking of justice. Collaboration, coordination, and empathy are not just buzzwords; they are the lifelines of any genuine movement for children. Without them, we cannot build a strong ecosystem of stakeholders who stand firm for the child’s right to dignity, safety, and equality.
In India, every 15 minutes a child is sexually abused (NCRB data). Every day, children are abandoned, trafficked, murdered, or neglected. And yet, we rarely stand up collectively to defend their rights. Child rights remain one of the least prioritized and least treated human rights issues, even in the non-profit sector that is supposed to uphold justice.
Why is it that when we think of children, we still consider them “less human”? Why do we forget that for every adult, 5–6 children depend on them for survival, safety, and recognition? Why is the basic human right of a child still negotiable? These are not rhetorical questions, they are a mirror we must hold up to ourselves as policymakers, NGOs, lawyers, educators, and community leaders.
This was the heart of our stakeholders’ meeting: a brainstorming session that went beyond discussion, into an urgent call to action. We pushed boundaries, challenged silences, and demanded accountability. Because children cannot wait. Because their rights are not optional. Because if we fail to uphold the basic human rights of children, we fail humanity itself.
