Community Cervical Cancer Awareness and Screening: A WAGE Foundation Initiative

Picture of WAGE and Zenzero Team with community leaders

This past Month, WAGE Foundation, in partnership with Zenzero Associazione, carried out a life-changing Community Cervical Cancer Awareness and Screening Program in one of the most deprived communities in Ghana.

Cervical cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in Ghana, yet it is preventable and treatable if detected early. Unfortunately, many women in underserved communities lack access to basic screening and life-saving education. Recognizing this gap, WAGE Foundation and Zenzero Associazione joined forces to ensure that no woman is left behind in the fight against cervical cancer.

During the outreach, we provided:

-Education on cervical cancer, its causes, symptoms, prevention, and the importance of early screening.

-Free screenings to detect early signs of cervical cancer and refer women for further care if needed.

-Counseling & Support, ensuring that women understand their health status and next steps.

The response was overwhelming! Over 100 women took part in the screening, many of whom had never had the opportunity before. Stories like that of Victoria, a mother of four who had been experiencing symptoms but never had access to screening, remind us why this work is so important.

This partnership with Zenzero Associazione has strengthened our commitment to making cervical cancer awareness and screening accessible to every woman, regardless of location or financial situation.

We seek for more partners and collaboration to reach more women in deprived communities with vital information and screening services for cervical cancer. Contact us at www.wagefoundation.org. Together, we are saving lives, one woman at a time!
