Connected through the wire!

The first class of ‘Voices of our future’ about Web 2.0 is very exciting to me. It is exciting to know that Web 2.0 lets a community to interact, to generate and put ideas openly, and to get the response and comments from one another. It kind of binds people around the world through the wire, if not in person. But I am quiet embarrassed after reading “Your PulseWire journal is a blog!” The reason is that two months ago, a person had talked to me about my blog. That time I even did not know that I ever had a blog! I did not have a concept about blog at that time. I insisted him that he might have mistaken me for someone else. But when he talked about my writings, I realized he was talking about my articles in the worldpulse. Then I said to him, “Oh, you might be talking about worldpulse. It’s not a blog; it’s just some articles.” I fooled him instead. I am embarrassed now, but it’s good that I know it now. Also, the other good thing is that I have gotten very close friend via worldpulse!

Web 2.0, without any doubt, can become voices of women, empowering and letting them know that they have equal rights to live in this world as men have. PulseWire is a lively example for this. Sharing similar stories and getting familiar with each others’ stories bring women together to fight against social injustice and inequality. It makes women feel that women discrimination is not an individual problem; it has existed from the very beginning of the human civilization, and now it should be put to an end. What makes it worthy and optimistic is that one can feel the strength of women and hear the strong and revolutionary voices of them beyond each story posted in the worldpulse. That’s why one can say Web 2.0 can definitely bring positive changes in the society starting from women themselves, helping them to claim their rights. In addition, from the discussions and sharing come the solutions.

Web 2.0 will indeed be empowering for me. First, it has let me speak out through my writings in worldpulse. Second, because of the communication with many women throughout the world and by hearing their voices, I have developed feminism in myself. I feel my thoughts are getting stronger, and I have learned to keep my head up. I am shy in nature, and Web 2.0 is very helpful to overcome such shyness - it can’t let my voice remain suppressed. Similarly, Web 2.0 can contribute to the communication which makes us feel that we are not alone. For instance, when I take a journey to the worldpulse, I feel that it’s not only me who is facing some societal problems because of my being a woman. I feel it is the common problem which needs to be solved. And it is very inspiring to read glorious stories of people around the world.
