Could a Common Blood Pressure Drug Protect Against Breast Cancer?



Ladies: If you're taking the blood pressure medication losartan (Cozaar), you may be getting more than you bargained for.



Researchers at the University of Michigan believe losartan blocks a gene that makes normal cells cancerous in up to 20% of breast tumors. They came to this conclusion after mice with cancer who were given losartan experienced a 30% reduction in tumor size over a period of eight weeks.



Of course, these results are preliminary--researchers still need to see if losartan has the same effect in humans. Read more -
