DANCE FILM- Not Our Responsibility

“we keep men on pedestals

even when they have stripped women

of everything treasured and dear

we wonder why women

are afraid to speak up

and say when they’ve been mistreated

but why would they

when time and time again

society shows them

that even when they do

there is a high chance3

the men who hurt them

will stand on the same pedestal

we placed them on

and women will have to continue

to make themselves smaller

to find false peace in this world.”

Hi, my name is Sasha, and I am currently studying dance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. This dance film was born out of raw emotion after the election—not only as an expression of anger but as a outlet for women to reclaim their strength. Dance has always been my way of driving social change, and this project was my first step toward that mission. Thank you for watching. Please share, reflect, and be inspired
