Dear Mentor

Where do I even start, I remember a young village girl who had just come to the city in 2012. She got so fond of listening to the popular radio station in our country Botswana. RB2, as it is popularly known, every Sunday felt like magic. My spirit will be lifted up, the comforting voice and words will cloud the atmosphere. Trust me, no matter how stressed you might have been before listening to that show, "SUNDAY BALLADS" by the time it would come to an end, you would be healed.

Resego hosted a show on RB2 every Sunday called SUNDAY BALLADS, this show was containing encouraging messages, offloading everything that one may be going through, Resego would advice, play classic, love songs and healing songs. That show was magical. I followed that show, infact I got addicted to it. I wouldn't miss it for anything. It was from 9am to 12noon.... I remember telling myself that, I will have to buy myself an android phone once I start working so I could start chatting with this man behind the voice, yes his slogan was "THE MAN BEHIND THE VOICE". He had a soothing voice... 2014 I started working, I bought myself a small Samsung phone.

I texted this gentleman, before I knew it I started venting to him. We started chatting even after show time, he gave me that privilege. I started pouring my traumas to him. When I started having anxiety attacks and mental break downs he was the one I would cry to and he would stop everything to listen to me. I was devastated. He is the very first person I disclosed to. He is the very first person who adviced me, encouraged and counselled me. I appreciated seeking help because of him, he made it easy for me. He welcomed me, he gave me his time, he listened to me, he sympathised with me, he comforted me.

I am what I am now because I had somebody who allowed me to disturb him with my issues. From the Radio Show Host that I loved as a fan, to being my role model, to my personal advisor, my mentor to being a dearest friend. Yes, we built a friendship. He is a Motivational Speaker, A very passionate Advisor, Director Of Ceremonies of note, TV Host, Radio Presenter, Model and all the above mentioned are my inspirations and walking right on his path. I remember in 2022, he was a host on Botswana Television Morning Dumela Breakfast Show, and guess who was the guest? Well I was the guest, on his very first day at the television. Funny enough, we both didn't know we would be on TV together that day, we just found ourselves there. Believe me it was such a precious moment. The mentor and the mentee, wooow BRAVO.... indeed Dreams do come true.

I'm grateful for the opportunity I had with Resego, I'm really thankful to the Lord. Resego has paved my way to the now Babedi Samakabadi that is strong, wise, courageous, healing, motivating and working so hard to better the community. Ke a leboga Resego, indeed ke lesego.
