Direct Engagement and Legislative Advocacy for the Windowed Persons Protection Bill 2026

Our work to advance the rights, dignity, and protection of widowed persons continued in Lower Savannah Ward, Embakasi East Constituency, through a successful Civic Education and Sensitization Forum on the Widowed Persons Protection Bill, 2026, which is currently before Parliament.

The sensitization session was facilitated by Advocate Lindah Nyawira of L.N. Wachira & Co. Advocates and Mediators who also served as the Chairperson of the Widowed Persons Protection Bill Development Committee. She guided participants through the key provisions of the proposed Bill, explaining how it seems to protect the Rights, Dignity and Welfare of the Widowed Persons in Kenya followed by an interactive Q&A session where widows and widowers sought clarification on issues affecting them and gained practical legal insights on the proposed Bill.

The forum also included group discussions led by our Programs and Psychosocial Support teams which created a safe space for the Widowed Persons to share their lived experiences, legal struggles, and the challenges they continue to face.

We are encouraged by the active participation and commitment demonstrated by the widows and widowers.

These conversations provide valuable insights that will continue to inform our advocacy and support initiatives.
