DO NOT DROWN IN A PLASTIC POOL

Hello sisters❤

Have you ever thought that you are in a pool of plastics? Some of you may aware. But I know most of you may have no such thoughts with your busy lives.

Just think, you may use plastics and other non-degradable matters all the times. Have you ever thought that where those things are going after you abandoned them.

Plastic production is fastly growing after second world war. All most all the goods we are using today are non-degradable materials. "Production of plastics increased exponentially, from 2.3 million tons in 1950 to 448 million tons by 2015. Production is expected to double by 2050."

Sometimes, you may pass and go this article, because you may think ' oh what should I do.. this is a common problem in the world. There is nothing here to do..This is not a new problem.' But do you know.. human breast milk, which we consider as the most precious and the nutritious food in the world also have been discovered with microplastics💀. microplastics are the micron level small particles which are now in everywhere.

There are many international and national level policies and acts to reduce and recycle the plastics. But most of the developing countries are affected severely by plastic waste, as there are no proper garbage disposal strategies. Specially, Asian and African countries are threatened with plastic waste. Just have a search about India and Zanzibar. You know that, non-communicable diseases such as cancers, heart problems, kidney failures are very common in these days. Plastics are a main reason for our health effects that we do not pay a much attention.

As a mother, sister, wife or a daughter, you can be a goddess who can participate in saving the mother nature, as well as your family. Just think a way to reduce the plastic consumption of your family. You can use a environmental friendly bag, which are reusable, when you are going to the super market. Do not try to take all the polythene bags with you.. Burning of polythene and plastics is also not good for your health.

Teach your kids to not dump the garbage everywhere as they wish. The educational system of most of the South Asian countries are focused only on the subject matters. Social and ethical aspects have been hidden under them. But those good manners can be given to the children through the family. Always teach your kids about the value of the nature. Waste Management is just a word in our countries. I am from Sri Lanka. It is a shame to tell that there was a landslide in my country which was a mountain made up of garbage. Sri Lanka is also one of a top country in South Asia who dispose garbage into the sea.

There are some treatment plants. There are rules and regulations. But the only thing I realized was, plastic pollution and improper garbage disposal cannot be reduced without developing the personal manners of a person. If someone just throw away a small toffee cover on the way to home, it is just a vein of talking about a clean environment.

Women can have a great revolution over this problem, because you are the first teacher of your kid. You are the one who can manage your family ethics and manners. Currently, domestic waste is more than the industrial waste. You can try a proper garbage disposal way to dump your domestic waste efficiently. Always try to use environmentally friendly, reusable things instead of non-degradable things. Teach your family to not throw any garbage in unnecessary places. Always use a lunch box and a water bottle instead of using lunch sheets and plastic water bottles every day. If you have friends, aware them about the problem. Many eco friendly products are in the market. Just try to get adapt to them.

One thing I would like to mention. Elders are hard to make a change. But kids may practice good qualities easily if they have a good guide. Dear mothers, please try to make your kid an environmental lover. It will make a good change in the path of current world to the hell.

The food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe are all contaminated with micro plastics. This is a curse. Try to get out of this.

I did not include much scientific facts in this article. This is just the surface problem. The only thing I need from you is to aware others and pass this message with others. It you are a mother, teach your kids and family. If you are a teacher or a public speaker, just have a little time on giving this message to your audience. Only the governments cannot take actions regarding this problem. Individual manners are essential.

I just thought to write this because of an unpleasant experience I had to face. I just went to visit the Adam's peak in last month. Adam's peak is considered as one of the most precious places in Sri Lanka which is considered to be touched by Lord Buddha. Tamils and Muslims also worship it as a religious place of them. Many tourists from other countries also visit there. There is only a limited time which allowed to travel there. Therefore, the road is full of people in this season. Although people consider it as a heaven on the earth, the road to the heaven is extremely polluted by people. This place is situated in a most sensitive environmental zone. But people have dumped all the waste there besides the roads. Plastic water bottles, biscuit packets and polythene bags are everywhere. Although there are dustbins everywhere, people just throw everything everywhere. I could not believe the manners of those people. Some pain people try to collect those rubbish day by day, very tiredly. Just a pitiful situation. I don't know where those remaining plastics are finally destination. This is only a small situation from a small area out of the world. Just think about your country. This is also an area we should consider as women❤
