Dr. Tiller and the abortion brohaha in the U.S.

story
I remember watching an episode of "If These Walls Could Talk" many years ago that approached this issue. (The abortion clinic doctor played by the none other Cher!) The list of reasons is as long as your arm for a doctor to "not go there" when it comes to providing abortion services. (Not to mention a longer list of alternatives for medical practice. )
As the murder of Dr. George Tiller shows plainly, your very life is in constant danger. My gosh, the unrelenting courage and conviction (that you're doing the right thing), the absolute selflessness it takes to face that constant fear! The fear that today might be it, today might be the day it will all end at the hands of a Scott Roeder. The onslaught of verbal and and physical assaults. But it only goes to show that those doctors who do choose to "go there" are heroes in every sense of the word, warriors in the struggle over women's bodies. To not be immobilized by fear, but find the strength to go on regardless of it, because one is deeply aware - in our souls - of the consequences of if we do not. These are the soldiers on the frontlines, in the dirty trenches of a war for women's reproductive rights. And he was a guy.
I have to say the whole pro-life brohaha in this country (and other countries I'm sure, but I can only speak for this one) is beyond me. WTF? Is it not legislating "your" eurocentric Christian principles about what "life" is on my body? [Not to mention the whole Prop 8 "marriage is between a man and a woman" thing... Says who?] Cutting down my rights to self-determination as a citizen, as an adult -- my dignity as a human being -- because I happen to be female and have child-bearing capabilities. That the supposed "rights" of a cluster of cells makes mine irrelevant?
And how can it possibly be alright, under what moral code, for murder to be justified by this really religiously and politically motivated fundamentalist terrorist acts?
I don't get it.
