STUDENTS WELFARE MATTERS
Am Maureen Njeri Njoroge a first year university student in Kenya I joined January 2024 and am pursuing Bachelor of Education Arts. I did my national exams KCSE 2021 and I stayed 2 years at home due to financial constraints and I had no one to fund my tertiary studies. I managed to get a grade to take me to the university and by good luck last year I met a well wisher who agreed to fund my studies. Am in a private university and am a government sponsored student. Now my issue is after I did my first exams I got an email that I was involved in exams cheating and the exam was online for that particular unit. I was invited for an online meeting and they suspended me for 3 semesters. During the meeting the person who chaired the meeting said that they suspended me because they assumed there was transfer of information between the two of us. The submissions we made were similar and according to their research we submitted our work from different places and different times. I tried to appeal their decision but no one is listening to my pleas. They insist that I should be gone and they went ahead to deactivate my student portal and they nullified the marks for that unit. I am not able to access anything including results for my first exams for the other 5 units. I have knocked every door in their offices and they refer me to other offices and they do not respond to my emails. I have never had peace and am in so much pain because if they uphold their decision I will never manage to get back to school since my sponsorship will be revoked. I thought schools should not only care about studies but also should care about the welfare of their students I am just 4 months old in this school and this is how they treat their students. Am kindly asking for help to talk to the school to at least hear me out.
Thank you.
