EMBRACE SELF- FORGIVENESS

During my therapy sessions recently, I have been reflecting a lot on the importance of self-forgiveness. Not only to lighten the weight we carry on our shoulders but also for personal growth and well-being. This got me thinking about how as human beings, we tend to forgive others for their wrongdoings but struggle to extend the same grace and courtesy to ourselves.

At one point or another in our lives, we might have wronged ourselves and others around us. We have made disappointing choices and allowed fear to control fear and vulnerability. However, holding this cloud of self-disappointment over our heads controls how we move forward.  That has the potential to hold us back and cloud our vision.

Moving forward requires us to let go of the past and embrace forgiveness. By acknowledging and accepting our mistakes, we are better equipped to develop empathy and understanding for ourselves.

Forgiving ourselves for past mistakes allows us to learn from our experiences, and grow into the best version of ourselves.

So, let's take a moment to forgive ourselves for not knowing better, for being ignorant, or being enablers in our violations. Let's forgive ourselves for putting ourselves in difficult and dangerous situations, and for not being able to speak up or fight back. Only then can we move forward with a sense of freedom, self-appreciation, and compassion.
