Last week on Thursday, we at Binti Shupavu had the amazing privilege of hosting a powerful online session with Nomsa, a counselor from Tafara Wellness Initiative.
Two of our classes, Form 2s and Form 3s, came together on Google Meet for this timely workshop focused on boundaries, trauma, and resilience.

The session opened our eyes to how trauma can stem from everyday experiences such as bullying or family conflict, and how it often shows up in our lives through anxiety, sadness, anger, or even sleepless nights. Nomsa gently reminded us that while trauma leaves marks, healing is possible.
She encouraged the girls to seek out healthy ways of healing:
✨ Speaking to someone they trust
✨ Journaling their thoughts and feelings
✨ Prayer and exercise
✨ Expressive arts like painting, poetry, or dance
One of the most powerful parts of the workshop was the conversation around boundaries and consent. The message was clear and strong: “My body, my boundaries: NO means NO.” Every girl has the right to choose what she is comfortable with.
We also explored the meaning of resilience — the ability to bounce back after hard times by treating ourselves with care and creating safe spaces for our growth.
For me, what stood out most was how much the girls resonated with the idea of safe spaces and red flags — learning that secrets that feel wrong to keep are signals we should pay attention to.
This workshop was not only about awareness but about equipping our girls with practical tools to nurture their emotional well-being and rise strong in the face of challenges.
At Binti Shupavu, we believe that when girls are empowered to set boundaries, heal from trauma, and build resilience, they become unstoppable. 💜
