Environmental Concerns in Chicago suburbs

Who Gives A Crap! Toilet paper from bamboo!

I live in a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, USA. For quite a few years we have been recycling our bottles, cans, and paper. I live in a multi-family building with 60 units. We have a paid pick-up of these items in special bins, twice a week.

I understand now that all the plastic we send out is NOT actually recycled! There is not enough need for the plastic, to reform it and reuse it! I personally find this very sad. But our developed countries must find how we can repurpose plastic.

As for me personally, I feel good that I buy toilet paper made from bamboo, not wood pulp (trees). Bamboo grows fast, so is a much better source for this product. The company is Who Gives A Crap! You can find their website to order your own if possible.

50% of their profits goes toward buying toilets for places that have none. This too is a great result of buying this bamboo toilet paper. For detailed information: us.whogivesacrap.org

I urge you to explore what recycling opportunities there are in your community. Publicize them and promote them to those you know. Possibly organize a team to educate your community on this practice. Buy a carton to try it, and use for educating others!
