Fair and Lovely Fairness Cream – Insults Character Artists

I happen to see an advertisement of Fair & Lovely which goes like this: A girl takes a fair & lovely tube & questions to herself and asks “hey do you want to be a heroine or ‘Extra’..then she just whirls it around and stops indicating her that she would become ‘heroine’ & then flashy lights…oh ya she has become a heroine…

how is that People who contribute to ‘Film Industries’ as ‘supporting actors / actresses / characters’ have not noticed this degrading statement calling them ‘Extras’ (in films they use a term called ‘Junior Artists’) in a sarcastic tone..I am quite surprised and disappointed.

The Capitalists / Advertising agencies have constantly engaged themselves in creating such ‘discriminating’ statements & mostly use ‘Women’ to be a part of their Male gaze…

From MASES we strongly condemn the Fair & Lovely advertisement (all such fairness cream advertisements) for disseminating a ‘threat’ amongst women / men to consider themselves inferior if they do not have ‘fair skin’ / ‘beauty’ (according to them, the beauty that is essential for sex appeal) and also condemn the ‘sarcastic’, ‘degrading’ tone ‘Extras’ – which refers to a group of People who make their livelihood by playing ‘small’ roles in the Film Industry.
