Field Of Dreams

Freedom.. Economic power provides the freedom for me  to create  the vision I have, living the life I desire, not just for my own benefit but for those who,  like me just want a little jump-start so they can soar.

I grew up on a farm, 11 acres of amazing lush flora and funa, a steady flowing river on one end a vast open space of an abandoned air strip on the other, my siblings and I had endless adventures in our own world largest playing field. While they were excited about racing each other, playing hide and go seek or football, the many pops of colors and large variety of wild flowers, trees, leaves and the buzzing of the birds and bees, the freeness of nature fascinated me.

Even as a child I was  enthusiastic  about fashion not so much the clothes only, but  how fabric was made, how was it colored, how could I print my own wondered?

I would have been around 7 at the time, I would collect as much of the pretty flowers from my mom's botanical garden, place them on fabric and beat the life out of them to try to transfer the color to the fabric, with no success, all I would create was a mess and probably a scolding. Little did I know I was venturing in into botanical printing.

A bamboo patch, a fallen banana tree, the fibers from the stem, created an awe for me, I would say to myself there's purpose in all this that God has created, I just wish I could find it.

There was no Internet yet, so with limited exposure to research I put my energy into creating beautiful sketches of designs that filled my head, cutting and sewing garments to fit my rag dolls, and as I grew older I outfitted my brothers and sisters and eventually before I even graduated college, I had my own growing clientele.

It would be a whirlwind of years manoeuvring life's experiences, before I would again see the the inside of a university, revisit those childhood moments of being  inquisitive of the unknown, getting answers to my questions, with a well earned Bachelors Degree to show for it and my head swooming with imformation. But am I satisfied to just become the Caribbeans next amazing fashion designer offering something different to the world?

Bridal/Resort wear made not from the traditional bridal laces or satins, but from  ethically produced  organic cottons, hemp and bamboo fibers, linens, mulberry or silks. Minimalist Bridal wear  designs that suit the Pre and Post corvid periods of scaled down ceremonies beautifully set in the backyard or cosy indoor?

No I want to be the Caribbeans next Social Entrepreneur, that uses fashion, not just start a new trend in how we wear our clothes, but in the way we think, about clothes.

You see I love nature, I love the amazement of the enviroment, but we have done so much damage to our environment, that it's revolting in a way that is already hurting us. We have created the ozone layer, and the effects of  climate change is causing us pain  and costing us billions.

The fashion industry I love so much creates a huge percent of the world's waste and contributes to toxic gases getting into the air, earth and water systems.

My brand Christiqueclothing should not only use natural fibers, but we should produce our own, the dyes we use,  should  to be all naturally produced in our own botanical garden , the plants from which the fibers come from should also produce foods, thereby creating sustainability.

The brand is built on promoting sustainable living, educating  on the upcycling and recycling.

The vision for a community hub will   create jobs, provide and  expand my skills-training classes, offer scholarship and opportunities to young mothers, and young women affected and misguided by abuse, and lack of positive influences empowering them, giving them that jump-start.

A  self sufficient  community, that is built on sustainability, utilizing technology, but also captilizing on solar energy and eco practises, all the while building the brand.

Economic power should not cause one to focus on selfish gains, but rather sowing into the lives of others and  building community, giving a voice to the most vulnerable

Sisters I need your support, yes sisters make life easier, motivation, encouragement, support goes a long way . Pretty soon my website will be transformed to reflect all this.

Together we lift our voices, together we will win, together we can do our part to reduce the carbon footprint. love and light my sisters

Website still in transformation
