flash floods in kenya 2024

we seen it all over social media and other form of communication how bad the recent flash floods in Kenya have cost lives boh to people and animals,it has rendered thousands homeless, jobless, familyless and through it all it has made the government forcefully evict people from places the call home most of them are law income earners they have lost their lives they don't know where to go the government is telling them to go to higher grounds where is this higher grounds set aside for them so many innocent citizens have lost their lives during this forceful eviction. during that demolition most of them where out looking for their daily bread only to come back to no home , dead children its realy traumatizing as a parent losing your child really hurt .it was so very sad to see those women crying with the name of their kids because of forceful eviction ,the thing that still bothers me is the poor citizens were forcefully evicted yet the floods also affected the rich people too! most of their houses were full of water to the rooftop! nobody forcefully evicted the rich in fact people where sympathizing with them for floods swallowing their mansion but oth other had very few people helped the have nots who cried for their only household items that the government crushed without a notice .i'm sad writing this because i lost someone i know too she was a very hard working single mother of two she was a street food vender she used to cook very nice "chapatis" in a day she told me she make $20 and that really help her feed her kids , and other basic needs . i didn't see her for days and i thought may be because of the rains she decided to keep off the floods .after a week she is not back at her work so i went to ask about her only to be told that she drowned with all her kids . seriously i got sick to my stomach they were never found that incident has really , really traumatized me for days , one minute you're alive and enjoying life the next minute you no more nature took you with it . it reminded me how our lives are like flowers we bloom look beautiful and cute then wind come and blow it all away .climate change is so real from all the dangers of flash floods , mudslides, broken shore lines .i have been thinking to myself may be back in the days what happened in small village in mai mau in kenya the broken dam that swept the whole village i'm thinking 100yrs ago it happened then things get back to normal new generation came along reading the history of that dam the villagers were told this dam might collapse some day but being human and assuming things that oh ! such things cant happens we have live here for ages thats a myth , until it happened in the middle of the night while the whole village was sleeping it hurts me so much ! many innocent people haven't been found , been thinking ""what if the government comes up with a monitoring room next to those dams for the sake of citizens living near the dam so the dams can be monitored its water level, the cracks and corroded joints that needs to be fixed , incase they sense some danger the villagers are told to leave. i have been thinking about the animals nobody has talked about them animals are part of our family they have feelings despite having no voices they all died too. n;way as the country is planting trees tomorrow 10th may my team and i have dedicated this day to the innocent woman and children that died from being swept away we going to plant 50 trees each we already set a side tree seedlings for that day .that woman was such a sweetheart heart with a beautiful smile she really worked so hard to see her kids go to school , have something to eat i still hear her voice telling me i will keep for you your chapatti orders then a little laughter at the end , every time i pass that place its so empty the only thing remaining is her stall with some m-pesa number its so sad , her kids were so small they had a future ahead of them . imagine their peers not seeing them at school then the people who know what happen tell them they are not coming back to school because the floods sweep them away . nature has showed me how strong it is , nothing man made can stop it and everywhere that flooded that was once water way , the water will always come back to its source no matter what we human do . there are so many seasonal rivers that are back and most people are wondering where it came from , there are sinkholes forming, there a lot of mudslides the earth is mysteriously cracking same to main highways thats climate change to me nature is tying to tell us to act fast its giving up on us ,our daily activities have contaminated the air and its environment , same to our water sources ,we experiencing very hot weather with heavy rainfall or no rainfalls at all. tree planting is the only way to save our fragile mother earth or will see what nature will do to our lives .as long as i live i will continue planting tree to make a change in my surrounding the earth is so weak we experiencing collapsing buildings the earth is giving up if we don't stop deforestation nothing is going to be left standing the earth is going to be sinking , rivers are going to dry toxic air is all we will be inhaling and death is all awaits us all.
