Focus 2025, PIE First meeting of the year

The first meeting of the PIE committee members themed ‘Focus 2025” was on the 17^th January. 2025..It was bittersweet and happy both at the same time., as quite a few of our committee member have shifted to the WP board as members, and we missed them profusely.

 After catching up and initial introductions, in a round robin we set out our personal and professional goals that we hope to achieve for 2025.I remember Kirthi saying how it feels just like another new month and i got so inspired and reached the realization; advocacy never stops and when you are working at the grass roots, you lose all sense of time.

• Martha Llano wishes and strives to increase the protected area under her and to smooth the relationships among women
• Eunice -wishes to tighten spiritual antennas. Her organization carried out the Dignity Conference for Women Economic and Technology - it’s an app to help as an intervention and tool to address issues related to GBV.
• Notable is, there’s a component in her area called ‘triple threat’ that young adults face, which includes HIV and AIDS, Sexual-Gender violence, teen pregnancies, and early marriages. Developing the Tools to help to arrest this is necessity for her.
• Paulina -wishes to watch out for the vital signs of her and husbands’ health for the organization. She passionately dreams to be able to recruit new members to PIE with a goal to develop new leaders and second liners.
• Ruth wishes to write more and be more intentional about rest.
• Basudha wishes to rent a house near to Township with a minimum of 12 rooms for the girls who are giving their final matric and applying for university, for a duration of 6 months (their parents are pressuring them not to study anymore) – so the girls don’t feel the immediate earning pressure from next of kin.

Kirthi stepped down after today’s call and stepped into the PIE Liaison Role between staff and PIE. She will still be Stewarding resources, bring any support from staff and facilitating any staff conversations and supporting Paulina and Martha during this transition. She believes PIE is going to do grander things this year and beyond. We welcome Paulina a personal friend and a Wp encourager in to this role

The major message I got from Ch.Umila who was unable to be present in the meeting due to work call is, “If you look at the World Pulse website for long, the women on it jump out of the website into your life. World Pulse women are Real, they are not just stories.”

May we all get to physically meet all the women we admire and learn from.
