🎬 My Journey: From Dreaming to Becoming β€” A Story of Courage, Culture & Cinema

I did not grow up seeing many women on the screen β€” women from Malawi, women with real stories, women whose laughter carries resilience and whose footsteps rise from soil rich with history, strength, and hope.

But I knew from a young age that my voice belonged in the world of storytelling. Acting was not just a dream; it was a calling stitched into my spirit.

I started with nothing but passion, curiosity, and faith. No grand industry, no spotlight waiting for me β€” just heart, community, and a belief that our stories matter.

I remember the beginning: small roles, learning, rehearsing in borrowed spaces, sometimes doubting myself, sometimes breaking down β€” but never stopping.

Acting taught me courage.

Acting gave me identity.

Acting became the language through which I walk in rooms as a Malawian woman holding her space.

Today, I stand not only as an actress but as a storyteller for my people. One of the highlights of this journey is being part of the film 16 Barz: King of Bawo β€” a project rooted in African culture, innovation, and artistic pride. This film is not just entertainment; it is our voice, our talent, and our legacy framed for the world to see.

When I step on set, I carry every girl who is told her dream is too big. I carry every creative who has been overlooked but kept going. I carry my nation, my community, and the fire in my chest saying "We belong here."

And yes β€” I make acting look simple.

Not because it is easy, but because passion transforms hard work into purpose.

Why I Tell This Story

Because there are countless young women out there waiting for permission to believe in themselves.

I share my journey so that one more girl in a small town, one more mother balancing dreams and responsibilities, one more creative fighting to be seen, will look at my story and whisper:

"If she can, so can I."
