From Scrolling in Silence to Speaking for Change

Growing up in Pakistan, digital spaces were my escape. Like many young girls, I spent hours scrolling and absorbing content that often made me feel powerless rather than empowered. Social media, once meant for connection, became a tool of distraction. Instead of mobilizing change, we were drowning in endless notifications, comparison culture, and misinformation.

But then, I found a space that was different. A space where women’s voices were not just heard but amplified. World Pulse showed me that digital spaces could be a force for good, a tool for activism rather than apathy. Instead of extracting from us, this platform helped us pour into each other's building, supporting, and taking action.

It was through platforms like these that I realized the true power of digital communities. I began sharing stories of gender-based violence and the silent struggles of women in my community, stories that would have otherwise remained buried under societal shame. By speaking out, I saw other women gaining the courage to stand up for their rights. That’s the power of a space built for impact rather than profit.

I never thought I would be invited as a featured speaker, but it happened! I often get opportunities to speak at events, but unfortunately, something always comes up. However, I promise I will join you all at the upcoming event, where I will share my thoughts and ideas on digital skills for women who want to earn from home. Women who face societal barriers, those restricted by strict home policies, or those who simply cannot leave home but have the potential to work remotely. They can become financially independent. They are the pride of their families!

Now, I use my platform to educate and empower young girls in digital skills, helping them break free from the barriers society has placed around them. Instead of passively consuming content, we are creating opportunities and reclaiming our narratives.

This International Women’s Day, let’s reimagine digital spaces. What if our online world didn’t distract us from our purpose but drove us toward it? What if, instead of division and disinformation, we found unity and collective action?

Because where there is a will, there is a chance.
