Hello my beautiful sisters on World Pulse,
My name is Comfort Okiemute Ogbuwawa, and my story is one of pain, survival, faith, and rebirth. I come from Nigeria—a land of strength, beauty, and courage. But like many others, I have walked through the valley of fear and loss during the dark days of the Boko Haram insurgency.
There was a time when my world changed in a single night. The sound of gunshots, the cries of women, and the confusion of people running in every direction still echo in my memory. I remember clutching my heart, praying that somehow, I would make it out alive. I hid, trembling, unsure if I would ever see another sunrise.
By the grace of God, I escaped death that day. But the pain of what I witnessed—the destruction, the tears, the lives lost—never left me. For a long time, I asked myself, Why was I spared? What purpose did my life still hold after such horror?
It took time, reflection, and prayer to realize that survival comes with responsibility. I was not spared to remain silent—I was spared to bring comfort and hope to others.
I began reaching out to women and children who had lost everything. Some had fled their villages barefoot. Some had watched loved ones die. Their stories broke my heart, but I knew I could not turn away. I started small—listening, encouraging, sharing food, helping them find a sense of belonging again. Little by little, we began to rebuild not just homes, but hearts.
I discovered that healing is a journey we walk together. Many women found strength in knowing they were not alone. We cried, prayed, and laughed again. Together, we learned that trauma can become testimony, and ashes can bloom into purpose.
My name, Comfort, suddenly made sense—it wasn’t just a name; it was my calling. To bring peace where there was pain, hope where there was despair, and light where darkness once ruled.
Joining World Pulse is another step in my journey. Here, I see a global sisterhood of women who refuse to be silent, who transform suffering into strength, and who lift one another higher. I am here to share, to learn, and to stand with women who are changing their communities, one story at a time.
If my story touches even one heart, reminds one woman that she is not alone, then I know I am fulfilling my purpose.
💬 To every woman reading this — you are stronger than your pain, braver than your fears, and more powerful than you know. What moment in your life awakened your purpose?
With love and courage,
Comfort Okiemute Ogbuwawa 💛
