Funding Birthed a Girls Club.

Many years ago,I had a dream of making my handbook for women on the signs and symptoms of perimenopause into a documentary for wider reach. But I had no funds of my own to bring this into reality.

In my quest for collaboration, I met a lady who knew someone that knew a Senator's wife ,she was glad to be a part of my project. A call to the Senator's wife landed us in their porsh mansion after discussing our mission with her,she calls the husband intimating him of the project and how they needed it in their constituency to enlighten their people back home. The Senator jumped at the project and asked my "friends" to bring me to this office the next day at the National Assembly.

Just as we left the Senator's house,my first 'friend' said we needed to discuss somethings before going for the appointment the next day. We got into an eatery and then she asked:What is the sharing formular'? I was taken aback,I didn't understand immediately, then she repeated and explained what she meant. She was asking for a sharing percentage to be agreed upon before they would take me to see the Senator the next day . In my confusion,I simply replied,we don't even know how much he will give for the project ,so,I can't commit to any sharing formular right now. Needless to say,that was the end of the story. Both ladies,refused to take my call the next day for the appointment and that ended my quest for funding for my documentary till date.

Fast forward to 2024,I was privileged to be a member of the World Pulse REG ,and there was an opportunity to get funding for our pet projects ,the process was the most seamless I'd ever been involved in. No long proposal writing,no long interviews,no asking for unnecessary documents and account limit.

Need I say,the funding went a long way in my campaign against teenage pregnancy and the promotion of the girl-child education in a rural community in Nigeria.

Funding for women working to make the world a better place can never be over emphasized. Nothing dies in women's hands as we are wired to multiply whatsoever we are given.

I will be returning to the community where I held my pilot project in 2024 to strengthen the bond and give out 'Back to School items to members of the girls club that was birthed via the funds that I got.

In summary, women are going through so much at the individual level,community and national level depending on where they find themselves and the best encouragement the world can give is to #FundHerNow.
