Future Earth Voices - Climate Action and Storytelling Initiative

This initiative brings together first-person stories from individuals and communities around the world who are responding to environmental degradation and climate change in their daily lives. Each story shared here belongs to its author. Contributors speak from lived experience, offering their own reflections, challenges, and solutions. This space exists to amplify voices — not to speak for them. All stories are shared with permission and remain the intellectual and creative property of their respective authors.

Hello World Pulse Community,

I'm pleased to introduce Future Earth Voices, a storytelling initiative created by Earth Signal Africa to gather and amplify voices on climate change and environmental conservation. Across our communities, we all carry deep experiences of environmental change, community action, policy gaps, innovation, success, and failure. Yet many of these lived stories remain undocumented.

Future Earth Voices offers a reflective space for women to share what they have witnessed, what has worked, what has not, and what we must carry forward for future generations.

This initiative centers honest storytelling—from personal environmental turning points to community-led conservation efforts, and from hard-earned lessons to hopeful pathways forward. It welcomes everyone to participate. There is no technical expertise required - only lived experiences and your willingness to share. We want to hear from everyday citizens who care about the future of our planet.

Objectives:

  1. It is to amplify women and girls’ voices around climate action, environmental conservation, and sustainable solutions.
  2. Document grassroots climate and environmental solutions across Africa and the world
  3. Create learning from both success and failure
  4. Turn stories into action by informing advocacy, funding, and practice

What you’re invited to share:

• Personal journeys with climate or environmental change

• Community conservation successes and challenges

• Lessons learned from environmental work on the ground

• Reflections you wish the next generation could hear

Story Themes:

Story themes may include;

  1. My climate story - how has climate change or environmental issues affected your life or community?
  2. What does caring for the environment mean to you?
  3. Share a story when you took action to protect the environment - big or small.
  4. How has climate change or environmental damage affected girls or women in your community?
  5. Who is a woman or girl inspiring you to care for the earth and why?
  6. Sustainable farming, protecting crops, community gardens.
  7. Stories about protecting water, saving rivers, reducing waste, water scarcity solutions.
  8. Traditional or indigenous practices that protect nature.
  9. Creative solutions for energy, transport, water, or waste.
  10. Imagine a sustainable, healthy world in 10 years. What does it look like?

You don't have to strictly follow these themes. You don’t need to be an expert. If you have a story, a community, a voice, or a desire to learn—this is the place for you.

Join us as a storyteller, community coordinator, mentor, or amplifier.

Together, we can turn stories into action.

Earth Signal Africa believes that all voices hold essential wisdom—and that sharing this wisdom is a powerful act of environmental leadership. Every story matters.

Stories may be sent to earthsignalafrica@gmail.com.

You may also send the stories directly to me at elizabethkitego@gmail.com

Stories will be highlighted to encourage dialogue, learning, and cross-community inspiration.

I warmly invite you to contribute your voice and be part of this growing collection of environmental stories.

In solidarity,

Elizabeth Kitego
